Statement on the Passing of Executive Director Matthew Peter

Matthew Peter was a remarkable person, public servant, and leader, filled with wit, humor and vision. Matt transformed the Parking Authority and reimagined the innovative role it could have in transforming the City of Albany.

He never let anything stop him from improving the community he called home. From painting the town with the Capital Walls mural series, to leading the charge for electric vehicle infrastructure, Matt helped the Parking Authority become a true driver of change in the City of Albany. However, at the end of the day, and beyond his professional accomplishments, Matt was a trusted and beloved friend to all who knew him.

The Albany Parking Authority grieves this tremendous loss and sends its heartfelt condolences to all who are in mourning today, especially his partner, family, and friends. Matt will be deeply missed.

To ensure Matt’s good work continues moving forward, Associate Director Sean Palladino will serve as acting Executive Director.
