Parking for the Covid-19 Vaccination Site at the Washington Avenue Armory

Beginning on Wednesday March 3rd at 8:00am the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany, NY will become a FEMA run Covid-19 vaccination site. For anyone traveling to this location please beware of the following parking and transportation information.
Where Will Parking be Located for the Washington Avenue Armory Vaccination Site?
Please be aware the parking WILL NOT be available directly at The Washington Avenue Armory.
Parking WILL BE available nearby at the New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Elk Street Parking Lot.
There are several hundred parking spaces available at the Elk Street parking lot along with a number of handicap parking space.
The entrance to the Elk Street Parking Lot is located on Spruce Street.
How do I get to the Washington Avenue Armory from the Elk Street Parking Lot?
There are two ways to get to the vaccination site from the Elk Street Parking Lot:
By Foot – The Armory is a short 4-5 minute walk to/from Vaccination Site.
By Shuttle – For those who need transportation from the Elk Street Parking Lot, CDTA will be running a trolley shuttle to and from the parking lot. This shuttle will run on a continuous loop during the operating hours.
How to I Find the Elk Street Parking Lot?
Suggested Transportation Routes via Motor Vehicle to the OGS Elk Street Parking Lot:
Motorists traveling from outside of the City of Albany from the East, West or North, should use Interstate 787 southbound to Exit 4B, Clinton Avenue. Once off the exit continue straight on Clinton Avenue to Lark Street. Take a left on to Lark Street to Spruce Street. Proceed to take a left onto Spruce Street to the parking lot which will be a short distance down the road on the right.
Motorists traveling from outside of the City of Albany from the south should use Interstate 787 northbound to Exit 4 (Downtown) Quay Street. Continue on Quay Street to the Clinton Avenue ramp. Once on the ramp continue straight on Clinton Avenue to Lark Street. Once at Lark Street, take a left onto Lark Street to you come to Spruce Street. Proceed to take a left onto Spruce Street to the parking lot which is a short distance down the road on the right.
Motorists traveling from inside of the City of Albany should follow posted signs directing motorist to the Elk Street Parking Lot via Lark Street to Spruce Street.
Limited On-Street Handicap Parking Near the Washington Avenue Armory:
There will be a limited number of on-street handicap parking spaces available on Washington Avenue opposite the Washington Avenue Armory. These spaces will be clearly labeled and monitored.
On-Street Parking Restriction in the Area of the Washington Avenue Armory:
Please Be Aware, on-street parking in front of the Washington Avenue Armory will be reserved for the Trolley traveling to and from the OGS Elk Street Parking Lot. Parking in this area will be strictly prohibited.
Additionally, all posted on street parking restrictions and metered parking spaces will be strictly enforced to help ensure easy access to the Vaccination site.
Please check the parking regulations displayed on each roadway before parking. Vehicles in violation of these regulations are subject to ticketing/or tow.
Additional Long Term On-Street Parking Restrictions:
Beginning Saturday, February 27th at 7:00am until Sunday, May 30th at 9:00pm
No Parking: Lark Street (Both Sides) near the intersection of Spruce Street for VMS Boards.
Beginning Tuesday, March 2nd at 7:00am until Sunday, May 30th at 9:00pm
No Parking: Washington Avenue (South Side) from Lark Street east seven spaces.
No Parking: Washington Avenue (North Side) from Lark Street east six spaces.
No Parking: Elk Street (South Side) just east of Lark Street.
