Albany City Treasurer Darius Shahinfar Authorizes Amnesty for Parking Ticket Late Fees and Credit Card Fees through May 31, 2020

ALBANY, NY – “Due to the disruption caused by the national health emergency, I have authorized the Parking Violations Bureau to remove late fees from any and all delinquent parking violations in the City of Albany upon request,” said City Treasurer Darius Shahinfar.  “I have also authorized and implemented the removal of the $3 online credit card payment fee.  This parking ticket amnesty program is being administered in consultation with, and support of, both Mayor Sheehan and our Common Council, and will continue through May 31, 2020.”

To remove late fees, individuals must first request the fee removal. Tickets may be searched and viewed online at https://albany.rmcpay.com/ using license plate, ticket or vehicle identification numbers, or by calling (518) 434-5006.

The best way to request your fee removal is by e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or completing the online form. You can also request via mail at City Hall, Rm. 203 Albany, NY 12207.  When contacting the Bureau, be sure to provide your license plate number and/or your name, phone number, e-mail, or ticket number(s).

Because City Hall is currently closed to the public during the national emergency, and the Bureau is operating with limited staffing in City Hall pursuant to Governor Cuomo’s and the CDC’s guidelines, do not visit City Hall to pay or dispute your parking ticket.  Please contact the Bureau by the above methods.

Once requested, the fees will be removed, and individuals will be contacted so that they can go online to view the amount owed and either pay by credit card, or mail in a check for the reduced amount.  Because City Hall is closed to the public, cash cannot be accepted until further notice.

To dispute a parking ticket, please contact the Bureau either via e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., by calling (518) 434-5006, or via mail at City Hall, Rm. 203, Albany, NY 12207.

The City also reminds the public that until further notice, it has suspended metered parking and the booting of vehicles with excessive parking ticket delinquencies.  It has also opened Washington and Lincoln Parks to parking without time limits and has suspended timed parking restrictions.

However, the City reminds vehicle owners that ALL OTHER PARKING RULES ARE STILL IN EFFECT, including alternate side parking, emergency no-parking restrictions, handicapped and fire hydrant parking restrictions, double parking, etc.
