Downtown Albany Basketball Tournament Parking Information for 3/16-3/19

Please be aware that on Friday March 17th and Sunday March 19th, there will be heavy traffic and increased parking usage throughout Downtown Albany due to the NCAA College Basketball Tournament taking place at the MVP Arena.

Because of the number of guests attending this event, we anticipate longer than normal lines at the entry/exits at all four of our downtown parking locations; the Green-Hudson Garage, Riverfront Garage, and Quackenbush Garage & Lot. Each of these parking locations is expected to fill to capacity early each morning and remain full into the evening on both the 17th and 19th.

Due to these games and the related events taking place on and between Thursday March 16th and Sunday March 19th, ParkAlbany will have special event parking rates in effect at our Downtown Albany parking locations during these dates.

Event Parking Rates at Downtown ParkAlbany Locations:

Thursday March 16th

  • Green-Hudson, Riverfront, Quackenbush Garages
  • Event Parking in Effect From: 5:00pm-11:59pm
  • Event Parking Rate: $10.00

Friday March 17th

  • Green-Hudson, Riverfront, Quackenbush Garages and Quackenbush Parking Lot
  • Event Parking in Effect From: 7:00am-11:59pm
  • Event Parking Rate: $25.00

Saturday March 18th

  • Green-Hudson, Riverfront, Quackenbush Garages
  • Event Parking in Effect From: 8:00am-11:59pm
  • Event Parking Rate: $10.00

Sunday March 19th

  • Green-Hudson, Riverfront, Quackenbush Garages
  • Event Parking in Effect From: 7:00am-11:59pm
  • Event Parking Rate: $25.00

While event parking rates are in effect, credit card payment will be required to enter these parking locations. Next day parking rates go into effect at 12:00am. Vehicles that do not exit a parking location prior to 12:00am will be required to pay the next day(s) parking rate when exiting that parking location.

Monthly Parking Pass and Permit Holders:

While event parking rates are in effect at our parking locations, Monthly Parking Pass and Permit holders will still have access to their monthly parking location.:

Monthly Parking Garage Pass holders will be able to access their garage as normal using their parking credentials.

Quackenbush Parking Lot Monthly Permit holders on Friday March 17th will need to show their physical monthly parking hang tag to the attendant at the entrance of the parking lot to enter/park at this location.

Validated Garage Parking:

While the above listed event parking rates are in effect, standard validation stickers will not be accepted at any of our parking garages. In place of the validation stickers, ParkAlbany validation accounts will be issued a unique On-Entry Validation Code that they can provide to their parkers prior to them entering one of our garages.

Please note that if a vehicle parks at a ParkAlbany garage while an event parking rate is in effect and pays the event rate when entering instead of using an On-Entry Validation Code, that vehicle’s parking slip cannot be validated, and the cost of the event parking rate cannot be reversed.

Wednesday, March 15th at 6:00am until Monday, March 20th at 6:00pm

Parking Restrictions:

Eagle Street (East Side) from Howard Street to State Street for the college basketball tournament.

Lodge Street (East Side) from State Street to Pine Street for the college basketball tournament.

Lodge Street (West Side) from Corning Place to State Street for the college basketball tournament.

Pine Street (South Side) from Lodge Street to opposite Chapel Street for the college basketball tournament.

Friday, March 17th from 6:00am to 11:59pm

Parking Restrictions:

Beaver Street (Both Sides) from South Pearl Street to Green Street for the college basketball tournament.

Center Median of State Street between Eagle Street and Broadway for the college basketball tournament.

Grand Street (Both Sides) from Hamilton Street to Market Street for the college basketball tournament.

Green Street (Both Sides) from Hudson Avenue to Madison Avenue for the college basketball tournament.

Hudson Avenue (Both Sides) from Broadway to South Pearl Street for the college basketball tournament.

*On Sunday March 19th, in addition to the road closure in front of the MVP Arena, Albany Police will implement road closures on an as needed basis to support the MVP Arena activities*
